My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 4 or 5, and it’s been a relaxing hobby that has carried me through childhood, college, all the way to now. I love the math and pattern aspects of it, and it’s sometimes soothing to me to count things (hello OCD!).
I have crocheted sweaters, a million afghans, and a hats, but never a granny square blanket, for some reason.
I loved the idea of a grey background with flowers in the middle. I found a book of granny square patterns I liked for my kindle, picked out six bright colors of yarn for the flowers (and yellow for the center), and then a lovely heather grey yarn for the background.
I’m doing a revolving color pattern that repeats twice on each row, and I want a blanket that is 12 squares wide and 24 squares long… some math tells me that I’m going to need 48 squares of each color! I have a lot of work to do!
